Mid-October saw J R Willoughby appearing
at the Grand Designs Show at the NEC. Turn out was huge and we were
overwhelmed with the interest in our products, especially our folding
sliding doors and roof lanterns.
We ran "Show Only"
offers that generated a lot of interest, and we're pleased to extend
these to anyone who attended the "Beat The Tax Man!" show, for further

Victorian Conservatories
Victorian
hardwood conservatories are one of the most popular conservatory styles among designers, suppliers and home owners alike. The Victorian design has earned its popularity by being one of the most cosmetically beautiful and pleasing conservatory styles available. Also considered as one of the most versatile and adaptive architectural designs the traditional Victorian conservatory harks back to a time in British history when the United Kingdom was one of the most wealthiest and powerful nations in the World.
Taking its name from the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901) the Victorian conservatory typically reflects the decadence and excess of the age, featuring plenty of ornamentation throughout the design from ornamental glazing, multi-faceted fronts and ornamental ridging to the conservatory roofs.
The most recognisable features that distinguishes a Victorian conservatory design is its multi-faceted front that juts out from the existing property and incorporates typically, three to five angles, although its not unusual to find more to create a more rounded effect to the design.
Victorian conservatories also tend to feature a dwarf wall and ornamental glass panels. Harwood timber will be used in a traditional Victorian conservatory with dark colours, detailed wood grains and polished veneers. Case Studies of Victorian Conservatories that we
have built...
The challenge for a proposed conservatory in Gloucestershire was to
design and create a conservatory overlooking substantial gardens and of
large enough proportions to give our clients
the ability to host their growing family for celebratory events,
whilst also being able to utilise the new area for everyday living. In
gaining the appropriate
planning permission and listed building consents we needed for the new
conservatory, we also had to achieve
access to the main house, to a walled patio area and to the
grounds.
A
commission to produce a relaxing conservatory/garden room for another
contemporary residence. The Gothic style
windows and positioning of the doors are complemented by the
patio design undertaken by our building team as part of the
project.
